Thermotex energy saving applications reduce the transfer of heat, or thermal energy, between instruments which differ in temperature. Our thermal insulation reduces the event of heat loss in mechanical systems and can also reduce noise and vibration. Energy, in industry, is used to maintain the desired temperature of instruments, and, if these instruments are not effectively insulated to conserve the heat, its energy requirements become increased and, as a result, so do costs and environmental impact. Thus, energy saving applications are cost effective as it also has minimal recurring expense. Insulation is a permanent solution which does not need any additional maintenance or adjustment.
Thermotex self-regulating and small wattage applications are clever technologies that provide thermal solutions whilst considering energy efficient practices. Smaller wattage cables reduce the amount of energy wasted by inputting the right amount of heat needed. Our self-regulating cables minimise wattage (5W p/m) input by its redistributing effect along the overall line. At high temperatures, the cable controls and reduces its output and reverses its controls in colder temperatures. The reduction of output as the instrument temperature increases becomes a desirable feature in energy conservation techniques.
The potential for water vapour exists when instruments operate at below-ambient temperatures. This moisture condenses on surfaces which causes freezing and corrosion. When the water freezes, its expansion causes the instrument to fail. Insulation can prevent condensation by using heat tracing solutions that can consider the ambient temperature. Since instruments such as smaller pipes are more at risk of freezing, self-regulating heat solutions are used for insulation.
Additionally, Thermotex thermal insulation can also provide heat conservation solutions for exhaust management. During combustion, exhausts produces intense heat which can be exposed to heat-sensitive components. Insulation prevents excess heat from reaching these components which helps to increase the instrument performance.
ThermoCalc, by Thermotex Engineering Ltd, is, a calculation tool giving a first base estimation of cost and energy savings. Simply applying insulation jackets to un-insulated pipes, flanges and valves to the calculator model can result in cost savings resulting in a return of investment of less than one year.
